Think of legendary football kits from over the years, and it’s fair to say pink won’t be the first colour that springs to mind. You might be surprised, however, to learn that some of the biggest names in Europe have played in pink, with the colour proving hugely popular as an away or third kit option.
One team in Italy’s Serie A have used pink and black as their home kit since 1907, when one of Palermo’s founding members described the colours as sad and sweet in relation to their erratic win-lose existence. More recently, pink has been used by Juventus, Real Madrid, Celtic, Hamburg SV, Anderlecht and Sunderland, as well as the Scottish national side to name but a few.
At Clubline Football, the colour is more popular than you might expect, with Erreà offering pink options in their Vega, Marcus and Neath ranges alongside the adidas Estro and Nike Park VI collections. Judging by the pink kits that are currently on the market, Palermo’s example of using black as a secondary colour seems to be the most popular choice, though dark blue was put to good use by Everton for the 2010/11 season.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but few can deny the impact of a pink kit, and at Clubline Football we have plenty of choice when it comes to turning heads on matchday.
