A history of football shields
The most famous shield in English football is, of course, the FA Community Shield. Formerly known as the Charity Shield, it is the annual curtain-raiser to every new season, contested between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners from the previous campaign.
Current holders Arsenal, who beat Chelsea in last year’s showcase at Wembley Stadium, have lifted or shared the shield on no fewer than 15 occasions equalled only by fierce rivals Liverpool (15) and bettered by Manchester United who have lifted the shield a whopping 21 times.
But across the grassroots game, shields have been used to commemorate players’ achievements for decades, and at Clubline Football we’re all about marking monumental success with the right kind of reward.
A more traditional prize often favoured by schools and county football, Clubline Football’s range of football shields are the ideal celebration of the game’s winners and runners-up, whether you’re acknowledging a whole team or an individual player.
